We both work with a range of issues including:, health behaviour change, health-related anxiety and depression, and low self-esteem/self-worth.
We can see clients face to face (depending on Government guidance regarding COVID-19) in Southampton and London.
We also offer video or telephone appointments.
We work with a number of insurance providers such as Aviva, AXA Health and Vitality Health.
We use a combination of ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and MI (Motivational Interviewing), depending on your needs.
Lisa specialises in stopping smoking and supporting clients experiencing psychological issues related to living with a genetic condition and undergoing genetic testing. She also has in-depth knowledge about living with conditions that cause short stature.

ACT aims to help us learn and practice psychological flexibility skills enabling us to live with negative thoughts and feelings whilst taking steps towards living a meaningful life. If you want to find out more, we recommend the book ‘The Happiness Trap: Stop Stuggling, Start Living' by Russ Harris.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published a document in April 2021 which recommended ACT and CBT for people over the age of 16 with chronic pain. NICE stated that there was evidence to suggest that ACT “improved quality of life and sleep, and reduced pain and psychological distress”. You can find out more here.
CBT helps deal with overwhelming problems by breaking them down into smaller parts. Our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviour are all connected, so by changing the way we think and behave helps us deal with challenges in a more positive way. Rather than focusing on issues from the past CBT helps to focus on challenges we are currently struggling with.
“MI is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.”
